Let’s face it! When it comes to buying used gym equipment for your home, the choices are virtually unlimited. I am a firm believer that most of the time you get what you pay for. However, I also believe in the old saying, “Buyer beware!”

So if I want to purchase a piece of fitness equipment that will go the distance, how do I surf through the gimmicks and get to the heart of the issue? Do I need to spend thousands of dollars to get the cardio exercise I so desperately need? Do I have to traipse to the gym at 5 am and watch the monthly fees go up and up in order to feel the burn?

The answer is a resounding NO! In most cases fitness is simple. You need to find a way to burn more calories than you consume. This means finding a balance between diet and exercise. There are many variables to the diet side of this scenario but suffice it to say for the purpose of this article that balance is the key.

If you are considering any diet that tells you to eliminate all of something it is unlikely that it will be successful. You are more apt to be successful by adopting the policy that moderation is the key. If we are telling the truth, we have to admit that we didn’t become overweight by eating cake once in awhile, it is far more likely that it happened by eating cake everyday…and lots of it!

As a side note I must add that any diet that claims to be a miracle that is too good to be true is most definitely…to good to be true. No diet can get you to your goal and keep you there in 10 days. We must face the fact that while it may have been easy to get unfit, achieving a healthy fitness level will indeed be hard work.

As I step down from my soapbox, let’s get back to cardio! There are so many choices. Let’s eliminate a few. Residential grade fitness equipment is manufactured with the notion that it won’t really be used. It is marketed to the fitness enthusiast who buys it on a weight loss whim and then it is quickly reduced to the lowly job of a clothes rack. It is not intended to stand up to “real” use.

If you buy fitness equipment from a big box company and then really use it you are sure to have problems in the first few months after you purchase it. Good luck with finding someone to service it and ordering parts is an expensive nightmare.

On the other side of the coin there is commercial equipment. A new commercial treadmill can run you upwards from $2800. An elliptical is even more expensive than that. These are much easier to service, they are durable and it is easier to get parts if a problem arises. Commercial equipment is designed to be used hard everyday for years. With proper maintenance it will last forever. The price tag is steep and makes this option out of reach for many people.

Are you discouraged? Don’t be! There is another way-a better way! Why not consider used fitness equipment. Companies in the used gym equipment industry often go out and buy up used cardio and strength equipment. They refurbish the equipment and make it like new and then sell it for a fraction of the cost of buying it new.

If you could buy a like new elliptical for $2000 that goes for $5000 new-it’s a no brainer! Make sure that all of the cardio equipment goes through an extensive refurbishing process. The industry is working hard to make the very best choices in fitness equipment are available to you at prices that you can afford. Beyond that, make sure the company can carry a huge stock of parts and have trained technicians on staff to service all of the equipment they sell.

There is a company that has a 17,000 square foot warehouse with at least 100 pieces of cardio and 100 pieces of strength equipment in stock-not to mention dumbbells, benches and accessories. Grab your sneakers and come go on over to their website at http://afsfit.com. They’d love to show you a better way to get quality fitness equipment in your home. Their knowledgeable staff is committed to selling you what you need. They aren’t interested in overselling you, only providing you with the ABSOLUTE best equipment, the ABSOLUTE best prices and the ABSOLUTE best service.
