How To Buy Used Fitness Equipment

With the economy souring many people still know that they need to still need their health and many have never thought of buying used gym equipment.

They are up late at night and see those infomercials touting the newest home gym, what they don’t talk about is used gym equipment, which is a shame, here’s why.

You see those home pieces of home gym equipment are made the same as commercial grade fitness machines.

Let me explain, the home gym manufacturers realized very quickly that the average joe didn’t use the equipment they purchased. They would often not even get the gym equipment out of the box, they just bought into the infomercial.

By making home gyms less durable they are able to keep the prices down because the gym equipment was made to be used two to three times a week for twenty to thirty minutes at best.

While the home gym counterparts in the commercial world need to manufacture quality fitness equipment that is made to operate in professional health clubs around the world. Often times running twenty four hours a day for three hundred and sixty five days a year.

Often the fitness gyms are open every day of the year and need the quality and engineering to withstand the constant pounding from the folks who use the equipment.

The only down side to new fitness equipment is the expense so an option would be to buy used fitness equipment.

This is great except the used gym equipment industry has gotten a bum wrap over the years because of some unscrupulous practices.

Now the industry has taken a more professional turn and has started to really make great strides toward providing quality equipment at dramatically reduced prices.

Here’s what you need to pay attention to so that you get quality used gym equipment.

Make sure the used gym equipment remanufacturer has been in business for at least five years. This shows stability and the ability to withstand different economies.

Also if the used exercise equipment remanufacturer has their own used exercise equipment service center. This way you know they just didn’t resell sell some exercise equipment, they actually took the time to service the exercise equipment to the original fitness manufacturers specifications.

I would also suggest calling their customer service, make sure there is a friendly helpful voice on the other side that can answer your questions.

One other note is to find out if they have over a 10,000 sf warehouse, because that shows they have the ability to purchase large sets of equipment for even greater savings.
